Australian pier
In March 1915, the Australians who landed on the island built this pier, as part of the preparation of the island, as the main base of the fleet for the Gallipolis campaign. Its name is referenced on a map of the British Royal Navy dated to 1916, hosted by the British Library of London.
Next to Agios Pavlos’ church, on the northern coast of Moudros, you will meet the Australian pier and the monument that prevails before it, and honorably the flags of Australia and Greece wave over it, recalling the important role the island played in the history of ANZAC.
