Contemporary Balkan Art Gallery of Kontias was founded in 2007 and is hosted in a spectacular stone-built renovated building.
The Kontanion's Cultural Association of Limnos organized in 1999 and 2001 two Balkan Painting Conferences, where famous artists of the Balkan states created works of art about Limnos, which were donated to the Association and today form the basic exhibition of the Art Gallery.
Every year the gallery hosts new exhibitions of art created by famous and amateur painters.
