Thanos is one of the most known tourist resorts of Limnos, just 4 km away of Myrina. Its narrow alleys, its elevated place and its large organized beach combine gracefully the graphical and the modern way of life.
The central faucet, the Liontari faucet, the old school of Thanos (1910), the stone-built stadium located on the public square, as well as the old public laundry rooms of Faragga and Megalolakkos by the village’s exit are some of the most notable attractions that should not be missed.
It is said that is got its strange name by a landholder called “Thanos” who originated from Arkadia's “Thana”. The name is stated on a document dated in 1321 as “patriarchic land Agios Konstantinos located at Thanos”.
