Agios Sozon
The tradition says one day, a shepherd from the village of Fisini, found an old religious artwork of Agios Sozon, close to the sanctuary, located on the island's southeastern coast. He carried the artwork to his home, but the next morning, the image was again on the cape in the same position. This was repeated many times until the shepherd saw a vision with the Saint, who told him exactly where he wanted to build the church and put his artwork and so it happened.
With this tradition, at the end of the 19th century, the Minor Asian and Great Martyr Agios Sozon became the protector of Limnos, celebrated on September 7, when many pilgrims arrive at the temple every year for prayer and blessing from the holy artwork located towards the sea.
