Kaminia is a village located next to the prehistoric Poliochne, southeast of the island, 32km away from Myrina and about 8 minutes from Moudros. Its name is probably originating from the furnaces used by the potters and village metalworkers to bake the clay vessels and melt the metals.
In the central square of the village the temple of “Kimiseos tis Theotokou” (Assumption of Mary) reigns supreme, built in 1852 with a stone bell and clock, while walking down the alley you bust of historical writer Argyris Moshidis can be found. Surely do not miss out on enjoying the local meat, the famous local wine Kalampaki, as well as the local tsipouro with anise.
Continue your tour of the surrounding locations where there is a plethora of old chauffeurs, discovering the carved pelasgic graves in Sokastro and in the Balibahche and Gournaro sites, as well as the old tap with the built-in Turkish inscription.
